Copy Text from Quick Look Previews with a Terminal Command
I really miss Quick Look when I'm on my iPad or the two elderly Pismo PowerBooks I still have in daily production use running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Along with Spaces, Quick Look was among my favorite OS X 10.5 Leopard feature innovations.
However, not being able to select or copy text in Quick Look is a pain, albeit happily one that can be easily relieved via a cool tip from Mac Kung Fu author Keir Thomas posted by Macworld's Lex Friedman.
In short, to enable a hidden Finder setting that will activate selecting and copying text directly from the Quick Look window, just paste this code into Terminal and then press Return:
defaults write com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection -bool TRUE; killall Finder
This Finder will restart, after which you'll be able to select any text out of any text document opened in Quick Look.

With speeds up to three times faster than FireWire 800, the LaCie 2big also features RAID security, hot-swappable disks, daisy chain convenience, and a solid-aluminum casing. Heavy data users will appreciate capacities up to 8 TB with jaw-dropping transfer rates up to 311 MB/s. Daisy chaining multiple 2bigs even increases overall performance.
With the 2big, backups take a fraction of the time, letting the user back up more frequently. Videographers working in Final Cut Pro X or other professional software can even stream multiple HD video streams directly from the drive. Photographers using Lightroom or Aperture will notice significantly more responsive photo library browsing.
eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series
The 2big Thunderbolt Series and eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series will be available in the first quarter of 2012. Thunderbolt cables can be purchased separately on Apple.com.

Targeted to on-the-go Mac users, the G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile and G-DRIVE mobile USB are stylish and thin portable drives designed for use with your Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air. Hitachi GST has been acquired by Western Digital, with the deal anticipated to close place by March 2012.
Note that G-RAID and G-DRIVE solutions greater than 2 TB are not supported by Windows XP or older 32-bit operating systems, which limit maximum volume size to 2.2 TB. G-RAID and G-DRIVE solutions greater than 2 TB are compatible with Mac OS X, Windows Vista or other 64-bit operating systems.
