LC 580a.k.a. Performa 580The 580 ships with 4 MB soldered on the motherboard and a two SIMM sockets for memory expansion. Like other 500-series Macs, it has a slide-out motherboard. With the ports on the motherboard facing you, you will see two SIMM socket near the left edge. The leftmost SIMM socket can accept single-sided or double-sided SIMMs of 1 MB, 2 MB, 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB, or 32 MB. The other socket can only accept single-sided SIMMs, which come in 1Mb, 4 MB, and 16 MB sizes.
