Overview
Spec for spec, the 12" iBook G4/1.2 GHz matches the 1 GHz model it replaces with one change: a 20% faster CPU. AirPort Extreme is now standard, and the retail price is $100 lower than model introduced just six months ago. With a $999 retail price, this should sell like hotcakes.
The 12" iBook G4/1.2 GHz also compares very nicely with the $1,599 12" PowerBook G4/1.33 GHz - 90% as fast but a smaller hard drive at 63% the price, the iBook is a great value. (The PowerBook has an aluminum case, making it a bit smaller and lighter, and also has a better keyboard.)

Cautions
- Portable Computers: Models Which Do Not Have a Backup Battery notes the iBook has no backup battery to retain time and other settings when the main battery is removed. A small capacitor holds enough energy to maintain PRAM contents for 20 seconds, so switch batteries quickly.
