48% of Mac CPU Sales Either PowerBooks or iBooksars technica's Eric Bangeman on Apple's 2nd quarter earnings: "For the first time, they sold more iPods than computers, shipping 807,000 of the digital music players, an increase of a staggering 909% from 2Q 03. Computer shipments topped out 749,000 units, up 5%. CPU sales break down like this:
"From looking at the sales breakdown, it looks like laptops are a winning category for Apple right now. 48% of all CPU sales were either PowerBooks or iBooks. "...this is Apple's strength right now. Their global market share has increased from 5.9% to 7.0% in the laptop segment....
