stable. Let me restate that: Mac OS 9.0 is stable!"
- Good-bye, Apple dealer, Dan
Knight, Mac Musings. Between The Apple Store and other mail order
sources on one side and CompUSA and Sears on the other, the days of
the independent dealer appear numbered.

2001
- The simplified Mac life, Kevin
Webb, The Mac Webb. A computer collector culls his collection,
frees a room, and simplifies family life.
- Soured on Windows, Douglas
Metcalfe, My First Mac. Driven to distraction by Windows, the
author decided to follow a different path and go Mac.
- The flea market Mac,
Manuel Mejia, Mac Daniel. Replacing an LC, IIcx, and PowerBook with
a Duo system found at a flea market.
- Astronomy software review: The
Digital Universe, Jeff Adkins, Mac Lab Report. An excellent,
extremely accurate program for advanced users.

- Little room for improvement in
new PowerBook, iBook, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. A speed
bump, improved graphics, lower prices, and a SuperDrive make new
'Books better than ever.
- The new 'Books, combo drive
upgrade for iceBooks, keyboard protection, LapLink Everywhere, and
more, The 'Book Review. Also a FireWire drive
kit, a wireless card for older 'Books, a computer backpack deal,
and bargain 'Books from $122 to $1,249.

- 13" MacBook Core
2. No speed boost, but MacBook now has Core 2 Duo CPU. 2 GHz models
include more RAM, bigger hard drives, faster dual-layer SuperDrive, and
more.
- The MacBook Core 2 value
equation, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The Core 2 Duo is about 10% more
efficient, and the 2.0 GHz MacBooks get even more improvements, which
improves their value.
- Cheap is as cheap does: A crappy
cable cripples a capable display, Andrew J Fishkin, The Mobile Mac.
Both Viewsonic monitors looked great with DVI input, but with the
included VGA cables they were simply unusable.
2007
- Problems running Classic mode in
Tiger, Dan Knight, Mac Daniel. After upgrading to Tiger, the old
Classic installation stopped working. Where to find the pieces to get
everything up to date.
- The G4 Power Mac that won't run
Leopard, more OS X 10.5 success stories, and Pismo tips, Dan

that refuses to boot Leopard, other unsupported Macs that do run it,

- The Hackintosh
Conundrum, Low End Mac Round Table. Macs going Intel meant they
could run Windows, growing the Mac user base. It also meant PCs could
run hacked installs of Mac OS X.
- Flash Continues
to Lose Ground as HTML5 Gains Steam, Dan Bashur, Apple, Tech, and
Gaming. With Apple, Microsoft, and Sony dropping Flash support in their
browsers, the HTML5 future means unexpected blessings for PowerPC Mac
users.
- Brenthaven ProStyle
MacBook Air Sleeve a Snug Fit, Allison Payne, The Budget Mac. This
water-resistant sleeve provides sturdy protection, but the fit seems a
bit on the snug side.
- iOS 5: Some Wins,
Some Losses, John Hatchett, Recycled Computing. After updating his
iPad and iPod touch to iOS 5, John Hatchett finds some nice features
and some drawbacks.
