- Hey Apple, MHz matters, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. Why Apple needs GHz ratings that will convince consumers that Macs really can compete with PCs.
- More rejected switchers, Jeff Adkins, The Lite Side. A dozen more letters and emails recovered from Apple Computer's dumpster.
2004
- Getting connected to broadband service in Montreal, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. McGill only offers Internet access to those in student housing. time to look at other broadband providers.
2007
- A Quadra with ClarisWorks and Mathematica: All you need for a thesis, Rick Lawson, My First Mac. With a thesis deadline approaching and no desire to learn Windows, the author picked up an inexpensive used Quadra 605 system, which has all the power and tools needed to complete the project.
- iBook unreliability, iBook G4 AirPort problems, RAM for a PowerBook 1400, and more, Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Pismo vs. iBook as the more reliable portable, catastrophic iBook failure, and a Pismo that won't recognize new hardware.
- Replacing Home Page, more reasons to keep a G3 iMac, don't forget iLife 08, Command Line Mac, and more, Dan Knight, Low End Mac Mailbag. Also the Macard Project, a possible G3 All-in-One solution, printing to a LaserWriter over AirPort, and downloads for a Power Mac not connected to the Internet.
2008
- MacDrought: 4 months with no new Macs, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The most recent Mac update was over four months ago, and the Mac mini has been unchanged for over a year.
- CrossOver strikes out, Frank Fox, Stop the Noiz. Running Windows apps on a Mac without paying for Windows is great in theory, but actually getting Windows software working is another story.
- Resurrecting a dead Pismo, Spotlight search tip, and EasyFind a good file finder, Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Lots of tips on bringing a comatose Pismo back to life, a Spotlight file name search tip, and EasyFind as an alternative to Spotlight.
