1999
- Feeling left behind?, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. "Unfortunately, as the OS grows, it has to leave behind processors that don't support enough memory or horsepower for the OS to run efficiently."
2000
- Second chance with Macs, Robert Little, My First Mac. Long jealous of Mac users, the second Mac made him a convert.
- Ze PowerSuitcase, Customacs. Inside a metal Smith-Corona typewriter case beats the heart of a Quadra 700.
- 'I Hate You' virus, Andrew Minson, My Turn. This virus doesn't target your computer; it targets your family. (As usual, Mac users should be immune.)
2003
- WannaBe 1.0b14, a fast, low-end web browser for almost any Mac, Charles W. Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. As long as your Mac supports Color QuickDraw, you can run this free, small footprint, text-only Web browser.
- iTunes for Windows precursor to OS X for Intel?, flashing a Radeon, Kanga feedback, and more, Dan Knight, Low End Mac Mailbag. Also CardBus and FireWire 800, replacement slot-loading drives, Compact Flash and PC Card adapters, static, keyboards, x200 upgrades, and sleeping G3s.
2005
- Making Low End Mac's design work with Internet Explorer 6, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Modifying our CSS-based site design to work with Internet Explorer 6 didn't come cheap.
2006
- End of G4 models points to unprecedented value for used G4 Macs, Leaman Crews, Plays Well with Others. The PowerPC G4 may no longer have a place in Apple's product line, but that's a far cry from saying G4-based Macs are obsolete. If anything, their value is going to increase.
- The Lite Side's guide to Mac humor on the Web, Jeff Adkins, The Lite Side. What, the Lite Side isn't enough humor for you? Here are five more Mac-related humor sites to sink your teeth into.
- Sometimes an extended warranty can be a real lifesaver, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. Desktop computers tend to just keep on working, but when it comes to items you use "in the field", an extended warranty could be just what the doctor ordered.
- 5 Apple products among PC World's 100 best, 5 among 25 worst, Mac Pro anticipation, and more, Mac News Review. Also how Apple eliminates the need to choose between Windows and Mac, Apple's computer recycling program, cool retro speaker for iPod, Microsoft's first Mac-only mouse and keyboard, and more.
- iBook bursts into flames, Dell's Mac OS support, turn your 'Book into a virtual light saber, and more, The 'Book Review2. Also more on thermal paste in the MacBook Pro, more good press for the MacBook, AirPort Base Station upgrades, new high-capacity batteries, bargain 'Books from $165 to $1,999, and more.
2008
- Upgrading a Digital Audio G4 to work better in Leopard, Carl Nygren, My Turn. In its original configuration, the dual 533 MHz Power Mac G4 was slow with Mac OS X 10.5, but add the right upgrades, and it runs Leopard quite nicely.
- Make your own custom greeting cards with Sophie's Cards, Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Design and mail customized greeting cards using your own words and photos - or ones that come with the software.
